The Chatwal Lodge will permanently close later this month after Hyatt announced it will cease operating the Sullivan County luxury resort effective May 24.
In a notice on the hotel’s website, Hyatt said operations at the property will end at 11:59 p.m. local time on May 24, and reservations for May 25 and beyond “cannot be honored.”
The hotel said it is contacting affected guests and assisting with alternative arrangements or reservation cancellations without penalty. Guests who booked through online travel agencies or other third-party providers were advised to contact those companies directly for assistance.
The Chatwal Lodge opened in 2021 and was originally operated by Dream Hotel Group, which also operates The Chatwal in Manhattan. Hyatt Hotels Corporation acquired Dream Hotel Group in February 2023.
Located in the Chapin Estate, a 2,500-acre gated residential community in western Sullivan County, The Chatwal Lodge featured 14 guest accommodations, an on-site restaurant, and space for weddings and special events.
No reason for the closure was provided in the website notice.
Radio Catskill has reached out to Hyatt for comment.
