Drill, Baby, Drill? What Trump’s Energy Plans Mean for the Delaware River

Posted on February 20, 2025 by Patricio Robayo

Meg McGuire, founder and publisher of Delaware Currents, to discusses the implications of President Trump’s national energy emergency declaration. With Trump’s call to expand domestic oil and gas production, concerns have been raised about the potential environmental consequences for the Delaware River Basin.

She talks about risks posed to water quality, wildlife, and the millions of people who depend on the river for drinking water.

Despite these challenges, McGuire underscored the importance of grassroots activism and local engagement. She urged residents to stay informed, support conservation efforts, and hold elected officials accountable to ensure the continued protection of the Delaware River.

As environmental policies face uncertainty, McGuire’s message remains clear: vigilance and community action are key to safeguarding the region’s natural resources for future generations.
