Election 2024: Josh Riley, Congressional District 19, Candidate Interview

Posted on September 25, 2024September 25, 2024 by Patricio Robayo

New York Congressional 19th district stretches from Tompkins County in the West all the way to Columbia County, East of the Hudson and includes parts of the Catskills, Hudson Valley, Southern Tier, and Finger Lakes regions.

Josh Riley is challenging incumbent Representative Marc Molinaro. This is the second time these two have faced off in a congressional race.

The seat they are vying for is among the most competitive districts in the nation. Folks across the country are keeping an eye on New York’s 19th as it’s one of four New York seats that flipped two years ago,  giving republicans a narrow majority in the house.

Radio Catskill’s Patricio Robayo spoke to Josh Riley.

Interviews with Congressional candidates are such an important contribution. I wonder, though, why immigration at the US southern border is a “local” issue, and the war on Gaza and Lebanon is not.

I know I can’t yet wish I could vote for him. I realize I do not live in the area he would cover. I truly wish him best of luck as he can get to the point where I can vote for him. Sometomes it would be nice if each state could have a large ballot of all candidates running in the entire state listed and we could vote on all. You know, select this many for senate and a list or this many for congress and that list. Local officials such as mayor town of officials and so on are done by where you live. Another idea, start the music, pull out the chairs and everybody run. you get 2 years and we do it again but those who have served already must wait at least 10 years.
