Penn State Extension presents Keys to Wellhead Protection a virtual webinar on July 16, 2025 from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM ET.
Protecting your private drinking water supply starts at the source. While Pennsylvania lacks statewide regulations for private water wells, proper well construction and the establishment of wellhead protection areas are critical first steps in safeguarding water quality. This presentation will explore essential components of sanitary well construction—such as grouting, sanitary well caps, and proper casing—and highlight both recommended and required setbacks from various land use activities. Whether you’re planning a new well or looking to better protect an existing one, this session offers practical guidance to help you reduce the risk of contamination and ensure a safe, reliable water source.
