Sullivan County nonprofit arts and community groups are invited to apply for the 2025 Sullivan County Arts & Heritage Grants program, administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA).

Grants can assist artists and nonprofit organizations in producing and presenting cultural or heritage programming in Sullivan County, NY during 2025. The application portal closes on March 31.

The County funding supports projects that focus on visual, performing, literary, media and folk arts; culture; architecture; regional history; and environmental arts. Groups that may apply include literary groups, libraries, theaters, music groups, historical societies, museums, community development groups, environmental groups, and the like. with grants between $00 and $2500.

Attendance at one of our upcoming grant info seminars is required for new applicants. The seminar will cover a range of information including conceptualizing your project, effective grant writing tips and tools, and contractual obligations for grantees.  The zoom sessions take place on Wednesday, March 12, from 6PM – 7PM, or Saturday, March 22, from 12PM – 1PM.

An in-person info session is offered on Tuesday, March 18, from 1PM – 2PM, at the offices of WJFF radio in Liberty.

The Wayne County Arts Alliance presents “The WCAA Dinner Party: Setting the Table for Women”  from March  to March 29 at the WCAA Gallery in Honesdale.

The exhibit riffs on “The Dinner Party,” a permanent installation at the Brooklyn Museum of Art by American multi-media artist Judy Chicago and is based on art teachers from Wayne County’s three school districts and the Cooperage Pop-Up Club asking students, “If you could have dinner with any woman, historical or contemporary, who would she be?”

The event celebrates succinct storytelling, showcasing short films from local and international filmmakers with all submissions 2 minutes or less in duration.  Following screening, an awards program takes place.  Submissions are open until May 1.

Interested towns and townships must submit a letter to the UDC describing their project, an estimated budget with a breakdown for materials and services, the funding amount requested, and contact information for a project leader.

The UDC’s Operations Committee will review applications at its April 22 meeting and the full Council will vote on the awards on May 1.

The Delaware Highlands Conservancy hosts community programs and workshops hosted in March at the Van Scott Nature Reserve at 571 Perkins Pond Rd, Beach Lake, PA.

On Saturday, March 22 – 1-2:30pm, the program is “Wandering Invaders: The Movement of Invasive Species”.

Participants discover how species spread and the ways in which invasive species emerge—whether through accidental introduction or intentional human actions. Prepare to walk on sloped terrain by wearing closed-toe shoes and clothes that are comfortable for the weather. The event is best suited for older children and adults.

The Roxbury Arts Group announces an open call for participation in an upcoming exhibition, ‘Some Bodies’. Submissions are due by no later than 4pm on March 22, 2025 and the show will run from mid/late May to mid July this year.

‘Some Bodies’ is an exploration of intimacy and identity through depictions of the human figure.

Registration is now open for a Floodplain Administrator Basic Training from April 8-9, 2025 offered by the Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program (AWSMP). The training gives local Floodplain Administrators and other municipal officials the tools they need to perform their jobs.
