Round the Bend Theater presents a reading of a new play Greenville Tomorrow by Chris Widney with dates on March 22 and March 23 at 3 PM in the Brydcliffe Theatre in Woodstock, NY.
Directed by Beth Ryan Troxell the plays follows Todd and Marion, thirty-something African-American professional dancers as they move from their tiny apartment in Brooklyn to a beautiful first home in lovely Greenville, South Carolina. As they settle in, however, hidden agendas emerge including a boss who’d like Todd to be the first “person of color” to participate in “some nice, friendly Civil War reenactments.” Mortified by the implications but still wildly in love with their new home, Todd and Marion must examine their own relationship and how far they are willing to go to live the American dream.

The Muse Rosendale presents an evening of high-energy bluegrass music and old-time New England-style square/contra-dancing, with New Breaks and caller Eric Hollman on Saturday, March 22 at 7pm.
The first hour of the event will feature a performance by Hyde Park’s New Breaks (David Chernack on guitar and fiddle, Frank Kara on mandolin, Gary DiGiovanni on banjo, and Jim Sullivan on bass). New Breaks has been active in the Hudson Valley bluegrass scene for over a decade, and are known for their powerful vocal harmonies, driving instrumentals, and high-energy rhythms. With an eye to modern bluegrass while remaining firmly rooted in the classics of the genre, this is a performance not to be missed.
The second hour will feature a contra/square dance featuring caller Eric Hollman. Eric is an extremely experienced caller who will lead attendees in dances for all ages and skill levels. Backed up with live fiddle tunes from New Breaks, this dance is a great introduction to contra and square dancing.

The West Kortright Center in East Meredith presents Sessa on Saturday April 19th. This is an indoor concert with limited seating; doors open at 6:30pm, show begins at 7pm.
Sessa’s songs are sung in Portuguese, with visceral, sensual lyrics, and melodic flourishes not unlike those of Tom Jobim. However, the music gets a deliberate minimalist treatment rarely found in contemporary Brazilian music, more reminiscent of the bareness of Leonard Cohen.
