Time and the Valley Museum hosts Neversink History Afternoon on Sunday, September 25th 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Time and the Valleys Museum on St. Rt. 55 in Grahamsville, Sullivan County.
Attendees can browse through Town of Neversink photos, records, stories and artifacts from the archives to learn about the town’s history. Museum archivists Lynn Priebe, Wanda Terwilliger, Beverly Muthig and Neversink Historian Carol Smythe will be on hand to answer questions. Attendees are welcome to bring personal collection of postcards cards and photos to share.
The afternoon includes a special program at 2 p.m.: Otto Hillig’s Views of Sullivan County. Otto Hillig (1874 – 1954) was a photographer who recorded much of the Sullivan County in photographs. Hillig Studio in Liberty became an iconic symbol of Hillig the photographer. The Museum has several collections of Hillig photos and postcards including, the Virginia Caldwell Bishop Collection, the Clara Denman/Riley Currey Collection and the Addy/Coombe Collection. Hillig photos are a rare glimpse back into Sullivan County’s past.
