EVENT KICKED OFF PUBLIC PHASE OF “BUILDING A SOUND FUTURE” CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
NEW LOGO REVEALED IN FRONT OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND DIGNITARIES
LIBERTY, NY – June 28, 2021- Radio Catskill, public radio for the Catskills & Northeast Pennsylvania, officially broke ground at its new location in Liberty, NY. New York State Senator. Mike Martucci, New York Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, current and former board members, supporters, Radio Catskill staff and volunteers, and other members of the WJFF community gathered to break ground, kick off the public phase of the “Building A Sound Future” Capital Campaign and debut a new logo.
The former Catskill Harvest Market building on NY-52 was donated by long-time supporter Barbara Martinsons, and is being transformed into a new broadcast facility with high-level industry standard digital studios, a community space, offices, and grounds. The building is scheduled for completion by November 2021.
Board of Trustees President Thane Peterson said the new location will strengthen the station’s community connections and inclusivity. “We will reach out to your young people,” he said. “We will engage your minority communities. [And] we will forge alliances with arts organizations across the region.”
The “Building A Sound Future” Capital Campaign was started to fund construction and has raised $150,000 from major donors with a goal of $300,000. The event marked the official launch of the public phase of the capital campaign to raise the rest.
“Our supporters have never let us down,” said Peterson. “And they’re not going to let us down at this critical hour.”
Board of Trustees Vice-President Kirsten Foster said the move to Liberty is not just about a new state of the art physical space, and will feature a new visual identity. “With such an important move upon us, we thought it was time to revisit our logo, and have been very thankful for the efforts made by Eng San Ko, a fellow resident of Neversink, and his team at Love & War, a global creative branding firm that took an interest in WJFF,” Foster said. “We are excited to continue to bring global, national and locally produced radio to our community we love so dearly from our new headquarters and new spiritual center,”she concluded.
