WJFF’s summer fund drive remains in full swing.
so this will be another Fund Drive Edition of “Living Jazz.” In celebration, we’ll continue to explore the ART OF THE TRIO, interspersing classic jazz trio recordings by such greats as Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Nat King Cole, and Thelonious Monk (who rarely recorded in the trio format) with brand new trio recordings by up-and-coming contemporary artists. In the latter group are several pianists I’ve only recently discovered: Eldar Djangirov, who was born in the Soviet Union, the young Tennessean Keith Brown, and Noah Haidu, whose trio includes the great Buster Williams on bass and the 2022 NEA Jazz Master Billy Childs on drums. I again have a matching challenge lined up, so initial donations will be doubled!
“Living Jazz” airs Fridays from noon to 2 p.m. on WJFF, 90.5 F.M., and streams online at http://wjffradio.org.
