Van Dyke Parks was born in 1943 in New Orleans and in the 1960’s worked as a pianist and lyricist in rock with the Mother’s of Invention, Judy Collins and most famously Brian Wilson’s Beach Boys on the Smile album.
James Taylor’s Before This World, released in 2015, features the internationally acclaimed classical cellist Yo Yo Ma and also Sting on harmony vocals. We hear another live performance from 2010 at The Troubadour Club with James Taylor and Carole King.
