Join us on an exciting journey as we delve deeper into the world of “New Standards” by women, proposed by NEA Jazz Master and renowned drummer, band-leader, and educator Terri Lyne Carrington.
In her recent book, Carrington proposes adding 101 compositions by women to the jazz canon. We’ve already begun listening to selections from her list on our December 2nd “Living Jazz” show, and this week we’re continuing the exploration with even more beautiful tunes. Get ready to start the show off with one of Ella Fitzgerald’s greatest performances and end with a birthday tribute to pianist, composer, and visual artist Jason Moran, as we celebrate his 48th birthday. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience!
“Living Jazz” airs Fridays from noon to 2 p.m. on WJFF, 90.5 F.M., and streams online at http://wjffradio.org.
