The Delaware Highlands Conservancy is seeking volunteers for its winter Eagle Watch program, which runs from January to February on weekends. Training will be held on Saturday, December 14, from 9 am to 11 am at the Highlights Foundation Retreat Center in Milanville, PA.
Volunteers will learn how to collect data on wintering eagles and resident pairs, educate the public on “Eagle Etiquette,” and staff booths at events. The program covers various locations along the Upper Delaware River, including Mongaup Reservoir, the Delaware River at Minisink Falls, and the Zane Grey boat launch at Lackawaxen.
The training session will provide manuals and other materials. Afterwards, volunteers can participate in a self-guided tour of the Eagle Observation Areas.
Those interested in attending the training can register online at www.DelawareHighlands.org/events or call 570-226-3164 ext. 2. Individuals unable to attend the training but still interested in volunteering can contact Rachel Morrow at the Conservancy at rachel@delawarehighlands.org.
