At a ceremony earlier this month, Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus presented the Meritorious Service Awards to local first responders and community leaders. The honorees were recognized for their outstanding achievements and selfless dedication in the categories of Law Enforcement, Fire Services, Emergency Medical Services, E-911, and Military Services.
“I am so proud of the incredible work that our first responders do to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents,” Neuhaus said. “These stories are wonderful examples of selfless service to our community.”
“It’s certainly always an honor for me to help recognize some of the incredible work that our first responders are doing day in and day out for the residents of Orange County,” said Rob Doss, Deputy Commissioner – Police Liaison of Orange County Emergency Services.
“The Emergency Services deputies and I are grateful that County Executive Neuhaus hosts his event each year as it gives us the opportunity to recognize the individuals in our community who put themselves at risk daily for our safety,” said Pete Cirigliano, Commissioner of Orange County Emergency Services.
Among those honored were Detective Anthony Grosso of the Village of Chester Police Department and Lauren Savino of the Orange County Stop DWI and Traffic Safety Program. The duo collaborated with multiple agencies to address the sale of illegal and prohibited products in smoke shops, including flavored vapes, cannabis, and edibles containing psychoactive drugs. Their efforts resulted in numerous store closures, violations with substantial fines, and the seizure of large quantities of illegal products.
