Sullivan County property owners facing foreclosure have until April 30, 2025, to redeem their properties, according to County Treasurer Nancy Buck. This year’s tax foreclosure proceeding affects properties that were delinquent on taxes in 2023.
“It’s important for taxpayers to know this date, because we want everyone to remain in their homes and keep their properties for as long as they are able,” said Buck. “The very last resort is foreclosure – which we undertake reluctantly and carefully, according to State law.”
Property owners can make full payments by mail to the Sullivan County Treasurer’s Office at P.O. Box 5012, Monticello, NY 12701, or in person at the Government Center, located at 100 North Street in Monticello.
If full payment is not received by the April 30th deadline, the properties will be scheduled for public auction on September 17, 2025. Former owners will have the opportunity to repurchase their properties, with details about the process being mailed to the last known address on file after April 30th.
A list of properties included in the foreclosure proceeding is available on the Sullivan County website at https://sullivanny.gov/Departments/Treasurer. For additional information, property owners can contact the Treasurer’s Office at 845-807-0200.
