MONTICELLO, N.Y. — Kathleen Lara will be sworn in as Sullivan County’s new treasurer during a public ceremony scheduled for Jan. 2, 2026.
The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. in the Legislative Hearing Room at the Sullivan County Government Center, 100 North St., Monticello. The public is invited to attend.
Lara was elected county treasurer by Sullivan County voters in November 2025. She brings more than a decade of experience within the Treasurer’s Office, having served as deputy treasurer for 11 years. In that role, she helped manage county finances and supported day-to-day fiscal operations.
A lifelong Sullivan County resident, Lara has deep ties to the community she will now lead financially. She lives in Sackett Lake with her husband, Rick, and her daughter, Erin.
“I am honored and grateful for the trust the residents of Sullivan County have placed in me,” Lara said. “Having served as Deputy Treasurer for more than a decade, I look forward to continuing to work on behalf of our County with dedication, transparency, and fiscal responsibility.”
The swearing-in marks the start of Lara’s term as county treasurer.
