Monticello, NY – Sullivan County residents have a chance to honor local seniors making a difference in their communities. The New York State Office for the Aging will celebrate Older New Yorkers’ Day on May 26, and the county can nominate two residents to be recognized at the Albany ceremony.
Honorees will receive a commemorative pin, a hard copy of the book of biographies, and a certificate, and will also be featured on social media and in local media coverage.
The Sullivan County Office for the Aging is seeking nominations of volunteers aged 55 and older who have contributed to their community through civic engagement. Submissions can come from civic leaders, elected officials, and community organizations.
The deadline for nominations is March 2. Nomination forms are available online at sullivanny.gov/departments/aging (click “Nominate a 2026 Older New Yorker!”), or by contacting the Office for the Aging at 845-807-0243 or sullivanofa@sullivanny.gov.
