A Bronx man was arrested Wednesday after New York State Police said they found fentanyl, cocaine and cannabis during a traffic stop on State Route 17 in Sullivan County.
Troopers from the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit stopped a 2011 Subaru at about 1:52 p.m. Sept. 17 near Exit 114 in Mamakating after observing multiple vehicle and traffic law violations, police said.
The driver, identified as Avery C. Jackson, 35, was the sole occupant. During the stop, a Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office K9 named “Country” alerted officers to the presence of narcotics, authorities said.
A search of the vehicle turned up about 152.4 grams of fentanyl, 22.6 grams of cocaine, 361.5 grams of cannabis, along with glassine envelopes, spoons and rubber bands, according to police.
Jackson was taken into custody and processed at the State Police barracks in Middletown. He faces several charges, including:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree (Class A-II felony)
- Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree with intent to sell (Class B felony)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree (Class B felony)
- Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree (Class A misdemeanor)
- Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (violation)
- Multiple vehicle and traffic law violations
Jackson was arraigned in Mamakating Town Court on Wednesday night and remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
