The Delaware Highlands Conservancy will host a series of community programs and workshops at the Van Scott Nature Reserve in Beach Lake, PA throughout March 2025. The programs offer opportunities for all ages to explore the natural world and learn about conservation.
Events requiring registration include a two-part series on invasive species, “Wandering Invaders,” offered on March 14 and 22, and a program on animal babies, “Animal Babies!”, on March 15. Both programs take place at the Van Scott Nature Reserve. The “Wandering Invaders” program will explore how invasive species spread and how they emerge, whether through accidental introduction or intentional human actions. Participants should be prepared to walk on sloped terrain and wear closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
For those interested in learning more about land conservation, a virtual “Conservation Conversations” event will be held on March 19 via Zoom. This free event will feature presentations from Land Protection Coordinators Trey Talley and Kaylan Hubbard, who will discuss conservation easements and answer questions.
Additional interactive programs at the Van Scott Nature Reserve include “Adapting to Change” on March 21, focusing on the impact of human choices on the environment, and a monthly “Mystery Zoom” event on March 25, offering a chance to learn about a new topic each month.
Registration and program details are available on the Delaware Highlands Conservancy website at www.DelawareHighlands.org/events. For questions, please contact Education and Volunteer Coordinator Rachel Morrow at 570-226-3164 ext. 2.
