Monticello, NY — The Sullivan County Office for the Aging is reminding eligible seniors that farmer’s market coupons are still available, offering a chance to support local farmers while boosting healthy eating.
“The Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program provides an opportunity for seniors to support local farmers and improve their health by buying and eating more locally grown fruits, vegetables, and fresh-cut herbs,” said Lise-Anne Deoul, Director of the Office for the Aging. “We’ve received another shipment of coupon booklets, which we’re distributing on a first-come, first-served basis.”
Each booklet contains five $5 coupons, totaling $25. Coupons are valid through November 30, 2025, at participating markets.
“We’re at the height of harvest season in Sullivan County,” Deoul added. “Now’s the perfect time to use these coupons.”
To qualify for the program, applicants must be New York State residents aged 60 or older and meet the following income guidelines:
- 1-person household: $2,413 per month
- 2-person household: $3,261 per month
- 3-person household: $4,109 per month
Alternatively, seniors may qualify if they are currently receiving—or are eligible for—SSI, public assistance, SNAP (food stamps), or Section 8 housing.
Coupons can be picked up at the Office for the Aging in the Government Center in Monticello, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., or at the Transportation Building, 401 Airport Road in Swan Lake, every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
They are also available at senior nutrition sites and senior centers in Liberty, Livingston Manor, Bethel, Monticello, Jeffersonville, and Mamakating.
