With antisemitism at record-high levels and violence against Jews in the headlines, Hanukkah celebrations are taking on added significance this year.
On the first two nights of , members of local Jewish communities, along with their non-Jewish neighbors and local officials, gathered together in freezing temperatures for public menorah lightings large and small.
After the deadly mass shooting of a Hanukkah celebration on Australia’s Bondi Beach, these gatherings served as an opportunity to show resilience and unity, while also enjoying the traditional celebration of joy and light.
