Job Fair Set for Monday at Monticello Library in Partnership with Center for Discovery

Posted on October 17, 2025October 21, 2025 by Patricio Robayo

A job fair hosted by the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library and The Center for Discovery is scheduled for Monday, October 20, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the library’s Robert D. Norris Community Room.

Representatives from The Center for Discovery said they will conduct on-the-spot interviews for a range of positions, including direct support professionals, teaching assistants, and roles in areas such as security, culinary services, nursing, and maintenance. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED.

“This is the first stop of a countywide tour,” said Jon Fanning, Director of Talent Acquisition for The Center. “We’re starting in Monticello and plan to expand to other libraries across Sullivan County.”

Fanning said the job fair is intended to increase awareness of employment opportunities at The Center, which operates residential and clinical programs for individuals with complex disabilities throughout the county. He added that job seekers are encouraged to review listings on The Center’s careers page in advance.

Allison White, Director of Talent Acquisition and Community Engagement, said The Center provides training for many of its entry-level positions. She said successful candidates are typically those who demonstrate reliability, patience, and a willingness to learn.

“We can train people for the job, but we look for individuals who are compassionate and want to make a difference,” White said.

The hiring event is being coordinated with staff from the Monticello library. Katelyn Tobey, the library’s adult program coordinator, said the partnership aligns with the library’s goal of offering more community-focused services, including digital literacy programs and job search support.

“We’ve been building programming around community needs,” Tobey said. “Hosting a job fair is part of that.”

Library Director Mary Paige Lang-Clouse said the event may also help bring new visitors into the building.

“This is an opportunity for people to learn about job openings and see what the library offers at the same time,” Lang-Clouse said.

Job openings are located at several The Center for Discovery campuses, including sites in Harris, Hurleyville, Liberty, and Rock Hill. According to Fanning, similar job fairs will be held in other parts of the county, though future dates have not yet been announced.

Applicants attending Monday’s event are encouraged to bring a résumé, but it is not required.
