The Liberty Central School District Board of Education recognized three individuals with Excellence in Service Awards at their November 12 meeting: elementary speech teacher Jena Schwartz, middle school counselor Michelle Behrman, and grounds crew member Joe Davis.
Schwartz was lauded for her dedication to meeting the significant demand for speech services in the elementary school. Her nominator praised her for providing resources to teachers, mentoring two new speech pathologists, and consistently advocating for the importance of speech services.
Behrman was recognized as an invaluable asset to the middle school. Her nomination highlighted her willingness to help teachers and students whenever needed, her expertise in SchoolTool, and her dedication to going above and beyond her role as a counselor. Her nominator stated, “She puts on more than a school counselor hat for Liberty Middle School and should get the award for excellence.”
Davis received recognition for his consistent positive attitude and willingness to help, even in the midst of a busy schedule. His recent drill performance earned him recognition. When faced with a law enforcement officer attempting to gain unauthorized access to the school buildings, Davis recognized the scam and refused entry.
The Excellence in Service Awards are presented monthly to faculty and staff members nominated by their peers who demonstrate exceptional acts of kindness, service, or work ethic.
