Voters in the Livingston Manor-Roscoe Central School District will have two opportunities this week to meet the 19 candidates for the new seven-member Board of Education. The candidate forums, hosted by the Roscoe and Livingston Manor Teacher Associations, will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Roscoe school and 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Livingston Manor school. Both events will also be livestreamed on Zoom.
During the forums, candidates will answer questions provided by the moderators and have an opportunity to address the audience. The audience will also be able to ask questions directly to the candidates.
The newly elected board will oversee the significant task of establishing policies and procedures for the newly merged district. Key decisions to be made before July 1 include selecting a school name, colors, mascot, and building names and configurations. The board will also appoint attorneys, architects, banks, and other professional service providers, as well as approve transportation contracts.
Biographical information for each candidate will be available at the forums and on the district websites.
