Our Fall Favorites starts at Noon today with Living Jazz
We’ll celebrate the occasion with a hodgepodge of great jazz, most of it from musicians who have appeared on the “Living Jazz” show. We’ll hear new music from Clarice Assad, the great Brazilian pianist and scat singer, Keith Jarrett, Ryan Keberle, and Kevin Hays (who was on the show last week). We’ll preview a new albumĀ Bill Mays is releasing soon, and segue into a mini selection of Willam Allen Mays recordings. We’ll play tunes in honor of Rosie Starr and Sonja Hedlund, two of WJFF’s legendary and dedicated volunteers. We’ll celebrate the birthdays of jazz greats Dizzy Gillespie, Don Byas and Fred Hersch, all of whom were born on Oct. 21.
Plus, Dr. David Dann, the dean of Catskills jazz broadcasters, will be in the studio with me, offering his usual informed commentary and wry wit.
And, we’ll have a $200 challenge on the table (if you donate right away your money will be doubled!).
“Living Jazz” airs Fridays from noon to 2 p.m. on WJFF, 90.5 F.M. and streams online at wjffradio.org.
