PennDOT is planning to replace a structurally deficient bridge on Route 1011 in Berlin Township, Wayne County, and is inviting the public to a meeting to learn more about the project.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Berlin Township Community Center, 50 Milanville Road, Beach Lake.
The existing 60-inch pipe bridge carrying Beach Lake Creek will be replaced with a two-lane, cast-in-place reinforced concrete box culvert. The project also includes updates to approach roadways and guide rails. Route 1011 will have two 9’ lanes and 2’ shoulders on each side.
Construction is scheduled for summer 2026. During construction, traffic will be detoured onto a 5-mile signed route utilizing Route 1011 (Catholic Church Road), Route 652 (Beach Lake Highway), and Route 1013 (Perkins Pond Road).
The plans display meeting will provide information about the project and the planned traffic control. PennDOT will also be accepting public input regarding questions or concerns with the project.
The public comment period is open from Feb. 18 to March 18. Detailed project information and a comment form are available online at the PennDOT District 4-0 website: Route 1011 Over Beach Lake Creek Bridge Project | Department of Transportation | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
