HARRISBURG, PA —Pennsylvanians have until October 24 to review and comment on the **2025 State Rail Plan**, which maps the future of passenger and freight rail across the commonwealth. A virtual public meeting will be held October 16.
The plan, updated every four years with input from the Federal Railroad Administration and local stakeholders, highlights opportunities for safer, faster, and more efficient rail service while supporting economic growth and environmental goals.
“With more operating railroads than any other state, rail is a critical part of Pennsylvania’s transportation network,” said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. “We want to hear from residents on how we can make it even better.”
View the draft plan and submit comments at Advancing PA Rail or by emailing RA-PDPASRP@pa.gov . The virtual meeting runs Thursday, October 16, from 3:30–5 p.m.
PennDOT emphasizes that all participation is open to everyone under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and questions about access can be directed to 717-787-5891 or 800-468-4201.
