MILFORD, PA ― The Pike County Planning and Mapping Office is currently in the process of updating the Open Space, Greenways, and Recreation Plan (OSGR) and needs feedback on recreation opportunities in Pike County.
The OSGR plan is a 10-year guidebook to encourage sustainable growth that respects and preserves Pike County’s unique natural resources. It identifies ways to connect trails to public parks and open spaces, supporting outdoor recreation. The plan serves as the framework for decision-making that works to achieve a healthy balance between preservation and development in Pike County.
The terms “open space,” “greenways,” and “recreation” refer to land and water features that have not been intensively developed, such as wildlife areas, wetlands, farms or forestry lands, parkland and trails, and parks and recreation areas.
Public feedback will help to create a vision for the County’s park and trail development, conserving those highly desired open spaces.
“Public input is crucial to update the Open Space, Greenways, and Recreation Plan. We are looking for people to tell us what they need in their outdoor spaces, and how important recreation and trails are to them,” said Jessica Yoder, Assistant Planning Director. “We need to understand how the public utilizes our outdoor areas in order to provide quality recreation opportunities for the people who live or visit here.”
