The Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program (AWSMP) has funding available for municipal officials who conduct work in the Ashokan Reservoir watershed to attend stream and floodplain management trainings. Code enforcement officers, building inspectors, and floodplain administrators are often responsible for enforcing federal, state, and local policies. Well-educated municipal officials can interpret and enforce policies that protect property and human life from riverine flooding. The scholarships provide funding that covers course fees and some travel costs for municipal officials to attend trainings that maintain certifications, sharpen their skills, and keep up-to-date on recent policy changes.
