The search for Rockland Central School District’s next superintendent is underway, with the New York State Leadership Group assisting in the process.
The district’s seven-member Board of Education and Interim Superintendent Keith Lewis are leading the effort. Lewis was appointed in November following the retirement of John Evans, who guided the former Livingston Manor and Roscoe school districts through their merger. Lewis will serve through the end of June, with the new superintendent expected to begin July 1, 2026.
The board is seeking an educational leader with a proven record of administrative success, strong student-learning outcomes, and effective written and oral communication skills. Familiarity with the planning required to strengthen a newly merged district is preferred.
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to identify problems and develop solutions, unquestioned integrity, the willingness to share credit and accept responsibility, success in implementing effective district financial practices, and the courage to make difficult decisions.
Applications are due March 27, 2026. The first round of interviews will be held April 13–17, with a second round scheduled April 27–May 1. The search is confidential; candidate names will be known only to the board, and only the selected superintendent will be announced publicly after a signed contract.
More information about the application process is available on the Rockland CSD website.
