The Village of Liberty Police Chief, Steven D’Agata, reported a significant decrease in both fatal and non-fatal overdoses related to illegal substance use in 2023 compared to previous years.
Non-fatal overdose cases dropped by 30%, and fatalities from overdoses decreased by 56% compared to 2022.
Chief D’Agata discussed with Tim Bruno on Radio Chatskill the factors contributing to the decrease in overdoses and shared his perspective on the future efforts of the Village of Liberty Police.
I find that hard to believe considering that my son died last year from fentanyl poisoning and a week later the poor kid died because of the drug addict parents. I must also say that the Liberty Police Department has never once returned a single phone call to me about the investigation into my son’s death. April 16th will be one year since his death and still no answers or phone call. Shame on you!!
That makes me feel at ease that our local law enforcement officers are closely working together with those who are,or currently suffering from the underlined issues that cause this outbreak-which are mental health issues and substance abuse. In my view this is not an easy task for our police officers. With that being said they are doing such a great job keeping our community a safer place to live……
