A Wurtsboro man was arrested after a stabbing during a domestic dispute Tuesday, New York State Police said.
Troopers from the Wurtsboro barracks responded to a report of a domestic dispute around 11:57 a.m. Sept. 23 at a residence on Pine Street in the village.
An investigation found that Timmy A. Bonilla, 32, was involved in a verbal dispute with a 39-year-old woman that escalated into a physical altercation, police said. A 21-year-old man at the residence attempted to intervene and was stabbed by Bonilla, according to investigators.
The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center for treatment.
Troopers arrested Bonilla without incident. He was charged with second-degree assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon, a Class D felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon with a previous conviction, a Class D felony; and tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony.
After being processed at the Wurtsboro barracks, Bonilla was evaluated by EMS for a wrist injury and transported to Garnet Health for further treatment before being returned to police custody.
He was arraigned in the Town of Mamakating Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail. Bonilla is scheduled to appear again in court at 9 a.m. Oct. 7.
A full stay-away order of protection was issued on behalf of the 21-year-old victim.
