The Liberty Museum & Arts Center hosts a window display series with an exhibit celebrating Black History month.
Paintings and collages by artist Gene Iovine include his moving portrait of Martin Luther King as well as collages featuring photographs recalling the Selma to Montgomery civil rights march and a display of prominent abolitionists. Iovine has been creating artworks in various media for over forty years and he curates the paintings on display at the Sullivan County Government Center.
In the second window, local musician and artist Kusar Grace has on display artifacts and artwork reflective of the black experience in America.
The Museum window project was initiated several years ago to help brighten up Liberty’s Main Street in the shadow of COVID, lighting up the neighborhood in the dark days and nights of winter. And of course the windows are always open to the public.
