The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway announces the launch of its first-ever 2026 Photo Contest: “Every Mile Tells a Story”, a seven-month initiative designed to encourage residents and visitors alike to explore and capture its beauty and activities.

Open to the public and free to enter, the contest invites participants to submit photographs taken along the New York State Route 97 Upper Delaware Scenic Byway from April 1 to November 1. Image options are open-ended for the byway, which has been divided into three geographic sections. A detailed map outlining the official boundaries is available on the Byway’s website.

The Community Foundation of Orange, Sullivan and Rockland, through a donor-advised fund established by Sullivan 180, offers a limited number of scholarships to Sullivan County residents who volunteer in a significant way with a Sullivan 180 project. The 2026 Sullivan 180 Scholarship application is now available. The scholarship program recognizes volunteer efforts in projects that support the Sullivan 180 mission.

Applications are due by August 25, 2026, and must be completed electronically via the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan’s Online Portal at  https://cfosrny.org/apply-for-scholarships/

Applicants should submit a personal essay explaining the volunteer experience and how it impacted them personally, a letter of recommendation from the Sullivan 180 project leader, a letter of recommendation from a member of the community or other non-relative and photos from the volunteer experience.

Open to the public and free to enter, the contest invites participants to submit photographs taken along the New York State Route 97 Upper Delaware Scenic Byway from April 1 to November 1. Image options are open-ended for the byway, which has been divided into three geographic sections. A detailed map outlining the official boundaries is available on the Byway’s website.

The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway announces the launch of its first-ever 2026 Photo Contest: “Every Mile Tells a Story”, a seven-month initiative designed to encourage residents and visitors alike to explore and capture its beauty and activities.

Open to the public and free to enter, the contest invites participants to submit photographs taken along the New York State Route 97 Upper Delaware Scenic Byway from April 1 to November 1. Image options are open-ended for the byway, which has been divided into three geographic sections. A detailed map outlining the official boundaries is available on the Byway’s website.

The Historical Society of the Town of Middletown will bring to life soldiers, spies and ordinary citizens trying to make sense of a changing world when it presents “Voices from the Delaware Frontier,” a living history program to mark the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War.

The performance, to be held at The Open Eye Theater, Margaretville July 11 and 12, will feature eight local actors in period costume describing how their lives were upended by the rupture with Great Britain in 1776.
