The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announces that new grant funding is available for projects in Local Stewardship Planning, and in River Education.

The funding will help communities in the Hudson River estuary watershed improve climate resilience and stewardship of natural resources, and enhance environmental education.

The grants are funded through the state Environmental Protection Fund and administered by the DEC’s Hudson River Estuary Program. Applications must be filed by August 7.

The challenges explore the historical landmarks, valley views, and smalltown charm that make the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway special. The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway hosts its first Scavenger Hunt contest from June 1st through August 31st with 30+ family-friendly adventures to be found on and off New York State Route 97.

Participation is open to regional residents and visitors. It simply requires the use of a cell phone to download a free App. For the details, visit www.udsb.net/scavengerhunt.

The challenges explore the historical landmarks, valley views, and smalltown charm that make the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway special. They range from hikes into the woods and engaging with historic markers to answering riddles and taking photos at memorable sites. Every stop has its own unique story.
