New York 

SULLIVAN COUNTY

BETHEL:  Saturday, November 11 – 11 a.m. – Sgt. Andrew Brucher VFW Post 5499 will be conducting Veterans Day Services at the Veterans Park (Bethel Town Square) on Route 55 in Kauneonga Lake. All veterans and the public are invited. Please arrive by 10:45 a.m.

ELDRED:  Saturday, November 11 – 11 a.m. – The Tusten-Highland-Lumberland VFW Post 6427 and the Sylvan-Liebla American Legion Post 1363 will hold a Veterans Day service at Heroes Park in Eldred, in honor of all veterans.  Following the service, refreshments will be served, and they will have their annual raffle drawing.

GRAHAMSVILLE: Saturday, November 11 – 11 a.m. – The Grahamsville Rural Cemetery will host a Flag-Raising Ceremony, followed by a ceremony at the Neversink Town Hall, both on Route 55 in Grahamsville.

LIBERTY: Saturday, November 11 – 5-7 p.m. – Spaghetti and meatballs dinner at the Liberty Elks Lodge 1545 on Darbee Lane in Liberty. Veterans eat free, all others $8.

LONG EDDY: Saturday, November 11 – 11 a.m. – The Allan Milk Memorial VFW Post 7276 and Auxiliary will honor all who served with a luncheon, basket raffle, 50/50 and t-shirts, hosted at the Long Eddy Firehouse, 4 Church Street, Long Eddy.

MONTICELLO: Saturday, November 11 – 9 a.m. – The Landfield Avenue Synagogue, 18 Landfield Avenue in Monticello, invites all to attend Shabbat with the Sheriff (Mike Schiff). Services will be veteran-oriented, and you need not be Jewish to attend.

SUMMITVILLE: Saturday, November 11 – 9 a.m. – Summitville Firehouse, Route 209, Summitville, will host a service conducted by the Edward M. Maier Memorial VFW Post 4947.

NOTE: This list reflects all the ceremonies the County of Sullivan has been told about as of November 9, 2023.

Veterans Day Weekend at Frost Valley: At this weekend retreat, veterans and their families can connect with others who have shared a similar journey, reconnect with friends in a natural setting, and take part in outdoor activities. The retreat is free for veterans.

ORANGE COUNTY

Saturday, November 11, 1 p.m.

New Windsor

Veterans Day Wreath Laying at The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor:  The small presentation will take place outdoors near the flagpoles in honor of our veterans.

Sunday, November 12, 1 p.m.

Walden

Veterans Day Brick Dedication: Walden remembers our veterans during its 13th annual brick dedication ceremony. Help honor the men and women who have served our country in the United State military this Sunday at Walden Veterans Memorial Park

Saturday, November 11

Honesdale

11 a.m.—American Legion Post 254 will hold a Veterans Day ceremony in Veterans Park.

Friday, November 17

Matamoras

10 a.m.—Pike County Area Agency on Aging will hold its annual Red White & Blue Thanksgiving luncheon, honoring veterans at the Lackawaxen/Shohola Township Center. There is no charge for veterans; others pay $3. Reservations are required. Call 570/775-5550.

Honesdale, PA

The Cooperage Project presents “Helmand to Honesdale: A Marine’s Journey” on Friday, November 10 at 7p.m. at 1030 Main St. In 2009, armed with a machine gun, George Geddis went to Afghanistan. He fought a guerrilla war against the Taliban on their home turf, and now he’ll discuss his experience in the Graveyard of Empires.

The New Inn at Lackawaxen will hold its fifth annual veterans’ breakfast on Saturday, November 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at 188 Scenic Dr. There is no charge to veterans; non-veterans pay $12. Email bspantonlackinn@yahoo.com  or call 570/685-7061.

November 12

Hawley, PA

Settlers Inn will offer a complimentary overnight stay on Sunday, November 12 for veterans at the Settlers Inn, Ledges Hotel and Silver Birches, or at the Hotel Anthracite in Carbondale. A fireside chat with Stan Pratt will be held, there will be a photo exhibit in the undercroft, plus wine and cheese at 4:30 p.m. Reservations required for overnight visit.
