Foster Care Awareness Month: How Sullivan County Supports Children and Families

Posted on May 20, 2024May 20, 2024 by Patricio Robayo

May is Foster Care Awareness Month, a dedicated time to raise awareness about foster care issues and recognize the vital contributions of foster parents, family members, child welfare professionals, mentors, policymakers, and other community members. These dedicated individuals play an essential role in helping children and youth in foster care find permanent homes and lasting connections.

Radio Catskill’s Patricio Robayo recently spoke to Leelani Voigtland, Director of Services for the Sullivan County Department of Social Services, to discuss the current state of foster care in Sullivan County and explore how individuals can become foster parents.

Learn more about the significant impact of fostering and how you can make a difference in a child’s life this Foster Care Awareness Month.
