CALICOON, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) says the planned full closure of the Callicoon Bridge (Interstate Bridge #7) has been updated due to the weather forecast.
The closure is now scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, 2026, beginning at approximately 10 a.m., with tentative backup dates of May 27 or May 28.
The bridge spans the Delaware River between Bridge Street in Callicoon, Sullivan County, and State Route 1016 in Damascus Township, Pennsylvania.
Officials say the temporary shutdown is required to pour concrete on two newly constructed bridge spans as part of a $17.8 million rehabilitation project scheduled for completion in November 2027.
The bridge is expected to reopen within 24 hours after the work is completed. Pedestrian and bicycle access will remain open during the closure.
Motorists, including commercial and freight traffic, are urged to follow posted detours and guidance from NYSDOT variable message signs, which will reflect the updated schedule and will be activated in advance of the closure.
Officials say all other details in the original advisory remain unchanged, and the work is not expected to impact Memorial Day weekend travel.
