CALICOON, N.Y. — Motorists traveling between Callicoon and Damascus, Pa., should prepare for a temporary closure of the Callicoon Bridge next week as construction crews continue work on a major rehabilitation project.
The New York State Department of Transportation announced that the Callicoon Bridge, also known as Interstate Bridge No. 7, is scheduled to close beginning at approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, for a planned concrete installation. A backup closure date of June 17 has been designated in case of weather or other delays.
The bridge spans the Delaware River, connecting Bridge Street in the hamlet of Callicoon in Sullivan County with State Route 1016 in Damascus Township, Pa.
According to NYSDOT, the full closure could last up to 48 hours.
The closure is one of several temporary shutdowns planned during the 2026 construction season as crews continue installing concrete on newly constructed bridge spans. The work is part of a $17.8 million bridge improvement project that is expected to be completed this fall.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and allow additional travel time during the closure period.
Additional information about detours and project updates will be provided by transportation officials as work progresses.
