Delaware County is awarding four $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors as part of the statewide NY250 celebration commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The scholarships are available to graduating seniors from Delaware County and may be used toward higher education expenses associated with post-graduation plans.
Students may enter the scholarship competition through one of two categories.
Under the first option, two scholarships will be awarded to applicants who submit a 500-word essay discussing the history of Delaware County and events that occurred during the Revolutionary War era from 1775 to 1783.
Under the second option, two scholarships will be awarded to applicants who submit a two- to three-minute recorded video reciting from memory a section of a speech delivered during the Revolutionary War era.
Complete scholarship requirements, essay and video guidelines, and application materials are available through the county’s NY250 website at Delaware County NY250 Scholarship Information.
Applications and all required attachments must be postmarked by June 12, 2026.
The scholarship program is part of New York state’s NY250 initiative, which recognizes the nation’s semiquincentennial and highlights local history connected to the American Revolution.
