Delaware County will hold its 30th annual Clean Sweep chemical disposal event Oct. 9 and 10, giving residents, farms, businesses and municipalities an opportunity to safely dispose of potentially hazardous materials.
Clean Sweep collects household hazardous waste, pharmaceutical waste, sharps and syringes, agricultural pesticides, and waste from conditionally exempt small quantity generators for safe disposal.
Hazardous waste includes products that are toxic in nature and should not be disposed of with everyday trash. These materials require special handling, processing and disposal.
The 2026 Clean Sweep schedule is:
- Friday, Oct. 9: Businesses, farms and municipalities only.
- Saturday, Oct. 10: Households only.
Registration is required. Participants can register online at cleansweepdelaware.eventbrite.com.
The event is provided by the Delaware County Department of Public Works and the Watershed Agricultural Council, with funding from Delaware County government, the Watershed Agricultural Council, the New York State Department of Environmental Protection and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
