MARGARETVILLE, N.Y. — Delaware County Public Health will host a free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets on Wednesday, June 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Margaretville Fire Department, 77 Church St.
County officials encourage pet owners to pre-register for the clinic by visiting the New York State registration portal at http://health.ny.gov/go2clinic.
Rabies vaccination is required by law for all dogs and cats in New York. Cats and dogs may receive their first rabies vaccination at 3 months of age.
Pet owners are asked to bring previous vaccination records to determine whether their pet is eligible for a three-year rabies vaccination certificate.
Dogs must be leashed and under proper control, while cats and ferrets must be transported in carriers.
Officials also remind attendees that local organizations volunteer their facilities for the clinics and that pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their animals.
Veterinarians will be available only during the advertised clinic hours.
Anyone who has difficulty registering for the clinic can contact Delaware County Public Health at (607) 832-5200 for assistance.
