A Sullivan County nonprofit has secured a $2 million grant from New York State to build the first residential mental health treatment center and middle school for girls in grades 6–8.
Evergreen Meadow Services received the award from NYSERDA to construct a carbon-neutral, all-electric campus in Rock Hill. The facility will provide trauma-informed care and education to girls facing self-harm, trauma, and other mental health challenges—at no cost to families.

“This is the only program of its kind in New York,” said Evergreen Meadow President Stacey Millman. “It’s a major step forward for youth mental health and for Sullivan County.”
The nonprofit is also developing The Grove, a nature-based day program with animal therapy, wellness classes, and outdoor activities on 34 acres donated by the Center for Discovery.
Construction begins this spring. The organization expects to serve over 250 girls annually within five years.
