HONESDALE, P.A. — Honesdale Borough is accepting applications from residents interested in filling a vacant seat on Borough Council following the resignation of Council President Tiffany Rogers.
Rogers, who had served as council president since January and was the first woman to hold the position, announced her resignation during the council’s June 22 meeting.
The Borough is now seeking qualified candidates to fill the vacant council seat. Residents interested in serving must submit a resume and letter of interest by July 13 through the Borough’s online application form.
Applicants will also be asked to attend the July 20 Borough Council meeting at 6 p.m. at Borough Hall, where they will have an opportunity to discuss their qualifications and interest in serving. Council members will review applications and public statements before voting on an appointment.
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have lived in Honesdale Borough for at least one year
- Be a registered voter
According to the Borough and the Wayne County Board of Elections, the individual appointed to the vacancy will serve until Jan. 3, 2028.
If the appointee wishes to continue serving beyond that date, they may seek election in the 2027 municipal election. The candidate may choose to run for either a two-year or four-year council term.
Borough officials encourage interested residents to apply and participate in the selection process.
Applications, including a resume and letter of interest, must be submitted by July 13 through the Borough’s online application portal.
