The 11th annual Hudson Valley Gives campaign raised more than $1.2 million for 270 nonprofit organizations across seven counties, making this year’s online fundraiser the most successful in the event’s history.
The initiative, hosted by the Community Foundation of Orange, Sullivan and Rockland, collected donations throughout May, with the largest share raised during the campaign’s official 24-hour giving day on May 20.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of local individuals and businesses,” said Elizabeth Rowley, president and CEO of the foundation. “Our community contributed and celebrated in record fashion this year to support local nonprofits, the enthusiasm and creativity that nonprofits embraced to raise donation levels was incredible.”
According to the foundation, Hudson Valley Gives has now generated more than $6.7 million in charitable donations since the event began 11 years ago.
The campaign supports nonprofit organizations providing programs and services throughout the Hudson Valley. The top fundraising organizations this year included Second Chance Foods, Inc., Ashokan Center, Humane Society of Walden, Abilities First and Hudson Valley Symphony Orchestra.
Participating nonprofits also competed for cash prizes funded by sponsors of the event.
