Lake Superior State Park will open for the season on May 23, with swimming, picnicking and boat rentals available beginning Memorial Day weekend, Sullivan County officials announced.
The park will operate weekends only through the end of June from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Beginning June 27, the park will switch to daily operations through Sept. 7. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays through Sundays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, weather permitting.
Admission is $5 per person. Children younger than 3 and veterans with valid identification through the Sullivan County Return the F.A.V.O.R. program are admitted free.
The park also participates in New York’s Golden Park Program, which provides free weekday admission for state residents age 62 and older. The program does not apply on weekends or holidays.
Season passes are available for Sullivan County residents for $20 per person and $15 for residents age 62 and older. Proof of age and residency is required. Non-resident season passes cost $40 per person.
Boat rentals will be available during beach hours. Pedal boats, row boats, single and double kayaks, and canoes can be rented for $10 per hour with a $20 security deposit per boat.
Picnic pavilions are also available to rent for gatherings through the Sullivan County Parks, Recreation & Beautification office.
The park is operated by Sullivan County through a cooperative agreement with the Palisades Interstate Park Commission.
