Local Man Pardoned for Attacking Police During Jan. 6 Riot Plans Return to Sullivan County, Run for Congress

Posted on February 5, 2025February 5, 2025 by Tim Bruno

Sullivan County native Edward Jacob Lang was one of the roughly 1,600 people, granted a full, complete and unconditional pardon by President Donald Trump to those convicted of offenses related to the January 6, 2021, riot at the US Capitol. The executive order also directed all pending indictments to be dismissed.

Lang was accused of fighting for nearly two and a half hours with law enforcement defending the Capitol’s entrance and had been awaiting trial after seeking multiple delays in his case.

Lang justifies his actions on January 6. “We stood up against a stolen election. We will be vindicated in the pages of history as patriots and freedom fighters,” Lang said in a video taken moments after his release. There has been no evidence that election fraud determined the outcome of the 2020 election.

Lang told The River Reporter’s Ruby Rayner he plans to return to Sullivan County and he may run in New York’s 19th Congressional District, which Democratic Rep. Josh Riley won in November.

Education and knowledge is power. This is why it’s so important for us to learn that we can have an effect so we should try and have that effect be one that nurtures or encourages peace ,tolerance and truth. I understand the frustration that we feel when a system becomes corrupt. As in how do we keep those in position of power honest ? And the truth is that being in a position of power or someone with wisdom doesn’t really pay . You lose the passion to do things when you feel no reward . From how I hear my kids describe people on the internet or different celebrities they are under the impression that these people are all loaded with money to spare. As if a viral post gets you automatic riches . This isn’t the case . If anything you are now known for becoming “famous “ for a post and have no idea how to move forward. People then control what you are introduced to and take advantage of your situation. I don’t know what happened but in my experience I was having all information totally intercepted and then sold back to me through different scams . That is what our worst threat is . They ask what our biggest threat is compliance and misinformation
