Northwell Health Opens Primary and Immediate Care Center in Pike County

Posted on February 3, 2026February 3, 2026 by Kimberly Izar

Northwell Health – New York state’s largest healthcare system – has expanded into Pennsylvania, starting with a primary care and immediate care center in Dingmans Ferry.

Pike County has long been considered a health desert as the only county in the state of Pennsylvania without a hospital or urgent care facility. Northwell Health hopes to close the healthcare gap for Pennsylvanians with its new center.

“This facility is the first step in a broader vision of what we plan to do in Pike County and our-long term commitment,” said Dr. Michael Mandarano, the site physician at the Dingmans Ferry location. “It’s a starting point but it’s not the ending point.”

Northwell Health opened its doors at the Dingmans Ferry location on Jan. 5 and offers primary care, preventative care, and non-urgent medical needs services.

The new care center is located at 116 Atlantic Avenue off the Dingmans Turnpike.  Northwell Health plans to open a second practice in Hawley, Pennsylvania in the summer of 2026.

“We are pleased to welcome Northwell Health to the county and have established a positive partnership over the past several years working together to improve access to health care services for Pike County residents and visitors,” said Ronald Schmalzle, Pike County commissioner vice-chairman, in a press statement.

A northeast Pennsylvania native, Mandarano says he’s looking forward to serving the local community, especially local veterans. Pike County has one of the largest veteran populations in the state, with 8.5 percent of county population with veteran status.

“I’m most excited about the people, the people in the community, and bringing community-based care to patients and integrating with a larger network.”

    1. It’s State Route 739 on mapping sites and to locals, no one knows it as Dingmans Turnoike.
    2. You should have included hours of operation

Took us in right away. Have x-ray facilities, doctor did an accurate and thorough diagnosis prescribed medications and cross-referenced all my wife’s medical charts/conditions as a new patient. Looks very clean, spacious, good waiting area and reception desk is right there up front. Would go back if needed.
