Poetry Workshop Explores the Comfort of Words

Posted on March 25, 2024March 26, 2024 by Tim Bruno

Several research studies have found evidence that writing or reading poetry can be therapeutic.

Poetry can provide comfort and boost mood during periods of stress, trauma, and grief. Its powerful combination of words, metaphor, and meter can help us better express ourselves and make sense of the world and our place in it.

As part of its Winter Wellness Series, Bethel Woods Center for The Arts is offering a Poetry Workshop tomorrow with Alison Green Myers, a published author and program director for the Highlights Foundation in Boyds Mills, Pennsylvania.

Radio Catskill contributor and Liberty Public Library Community Program Coordinator Tracy Gates spoke with Allison Myers about the workshop and the comfort of words.
