The Sullivan County Division of Public Works will hold a public information meeting next month on a proposed bridge replacement project in Swan Lake.
County officials said the meeting will focus on plans to replace Sullivan County Bridge No. 51, which carries Briscoe Road, also known as County Route 142, over the outlet of Swan Lake. The project is funded through the New York State Department of Transportation’s BridgeNY program.
The meeting is scheduled for June 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Liberty Senior Center, 119 N. Main St. in Liberty.
Officials said the purpose of the meeting is to gather comments from residents, stakeholders and other interested parties about the proposed project, including environmental and traffic concerns.
Engineering firm Barton & Loguidice, D.P.C., which is under contract with the county, is developing plans for the project in accordance with state Department of Transportation requirements.
According to the county, the project would involve removing the existing single-span bridge and replacing it with a new single-span structure.
Planning and design work is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, with construction anticipated to begin in spring 2027.
Anyone needing a sign language interpreter, assistive listening system or other accommodations is asked to contact Roman Di Cio, PE, with the Sullivan County Division of Public Works at 845-807-0281 at least seven days before the meeting.
