The Reimagining SUNY Ulster Committee will present draft recommendations for the future of SUNY Ulster during a public meeting scheduled for June 5.
The meeting will take place at 1 p.m. in the College Lounge on SUNY Ulster’s Stone Ridge campus and marks the culmination of several months of work examining the college’s facilities, operations and long-term needs.
The committee was convened in March by Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger in partnership with SUNY Ulster leadership. Its mission has been to evaluate how the college’s facilities can best support future enrollment, academic programs and community needs while ensuring responsible use of public funds.
According to county officials, the recommendations were developed through public input sessions, stakeholder engagement, presentations from partner organizations and a review of the college’s draft Facilities Master Plan.
Ulster County is responsible for funding SUNY Ulster’s capital budget and receives 50% reimbursement from New York state for eligible projects.
County leaders said the effort is intended to align the college’s capital planning with changing educational and workforce demands while exploring opportunities to better serve students and the broader community.
The committee is co-chaired by Deputy County Executive Jamie Capuano, a former SUNY Ulster vice president for administrative services, and SUNY Ulster Board of Trustees Chair Robert Jacobsen.
Membership includes four representatives from the county, four representatives from the college and Town of Marbletown Supervisor Rich Parete, who serves as the representative for the host community.
Officials said the June 5 meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to hear the committee’s recommendations as it concludes its work. The meeting will be held at SUNY Ulster, located at 491 Cottekill Road in Stone Ridge.
