Nominating petitions for residents interested in running for the Rockland Central School District Board of Education will be available beginning March 2.
The district has a seven-member board. All seats are elected at-large and carry three-year terms. Three seats are up for election this year. Two seats will be up for election in each of the following two years.
To qualify, candidates must be able to read and write, be a U.S. citizen, be at least 18 years old, be a qualified voter of the district and have been a district resident for at least one year prior to the election.
District employees are not eligible to serve on the board, except as permitted by law. No more than one member of the same family may serve on the board at the same time.
Prospective candidates can obtain a nomination packet and petition by contacting District Clerk Marlyn Peters at Marlyn.Peters@rcsd.us or by calling 845-439-1500, ext. 7201.
Completed forms must be returned to the district office by 5 p.m. April 20. Petitions must include at least 25 valid signatures from qualified district voters.
The seats currently held by Nicole Park, Chris Tuleweit and Tom Ward are up for election. The three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will serve three-year terms from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029.
