MONTICELLO, NY— Six people were arrested and illegal drugs and firearms were seized during a two-day enforcement operation by the New York State Police in Sullivan County, authorities said.
Members of the State Police Troop F Community Stabilization Unit, working with uniformed troopers, carried out the detail April 1 and April 2 focusing on what police described as quality-of-life violations along key corridors and in areas affected by criminal activity.
Police said the operation emphasized narcotics trafficking and illegal weapons possession.
Authorities issued 20 traffic tickets and seized two loaded handguns — including one that was defaced — along with an extended magazine and several types of narcotics. The drugs included about 21.9 grams of cocaine, 22.2 grams of crack cocaine, 7.5 grams of fentanyl and about 2 grams of MDMA pills, police said.
Among those arrested was Kalim J. Nedd, 26, of Monticello, who was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a class B felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, along with traffic violations. Nedd was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail. He was scheduled to return to the Village of Monticello Court on April 6.
Thomas L. Singleton, 46, of Monticello, was charged with multiple felony counts including two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and other drug-related offenses. He was arraigned in Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to return to Liberty Town Court on April 8.
Jeremiah A. Wade, 21, of Monticello, faces several felony charges including two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly possessing loaded firearms, as well as felony narcotics charges. Police said Wade also faces misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration. He was arraigned in Town of Thompson Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail with bail set at $50,000 cash, $150,000 bond or $300,000 partially secured bond. Authorities said Wade also had an active bench warrant issued by the Village of Monticello Court.
Jeremy Macghee, 19, of Monticello, was charged with felony narcotics and weapons possession counts and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail after arraignment in Town of Thompson Court. Bail was set at $15,000 cash, $50,000 bond or $100,000 partially secured bond.
Two others — Moises A. Veras, 31, of Monticello, and Jessica R. Singleton, 36, of Monticello — were each charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and issued appearance tickets.
Veras is scheduled to appear in Village of Monticello Court on May 20. Jessica Singleton is scheduled to appear in Liberty Town Court on May 13.
State police said troopers also conducted numerous vehicle stops and field interviews during the enforcement detail.
