MINISINK, N.Y. — New York State Police are investigating a fatal crash that shut down a stretch of State Route 284 Friday afternoon in the Town of Minisink.
Troopers from the State Police Greenville barracks responded to the scene shortly before 3 p.m. on Jan. 23, after receiving reports of a head-on collision at the intersection of Route 284 and County Road 22.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2014 Jeep traveling northbound crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a 2018 Western Star tri-axle dump truck. The Jeep’s driver, Joshua R. Stevens, 25, of Westtown, N.Y., was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of the dump truck, identified as Michael Fasce, 38, of Wurtsboro, was not injured.
State police say the cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information to contact the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at State Police Greenville at 845-344-5300.
